Lost Frames is a community-based initiative for viewing artists’ moving images in the Philippines.

Lost Frames started with a small group of artists in Manila who took interest in showing each other’s work through an evening of presentation and discussion alongside a video projector. Since then, it has become a event that encourages other individuals to share their works and to talk about each other’s methods and ideas with regards to video as a medium of expression.

Lost Frames differs from other screening programs being a non-curatorial outfit, reaching out instead to other artists to share works that have, since their time of production, failed to sustain an audience. These are works that fall outside the margins of more conventional screening programs, have received limited exhibition exposure, or are simply in their stage of finding viewership.

What started out as a small screening event in the backroom of an artists’ compound in Cubao, Philippines, Lost Frames are now regularly staging screenings and talks and have been invited by different institutions in Manila to bring their program to their establishments. For the Gasworks edition in London, Lost Frames presents a selection of artists’ moving images from the Philippines that have been included in past programs. These works shed light on current tendencies as well as the diverse range of moving image practices from the region.

This event is part of Cocoy Lumbao’s current residency at Gasworks (9 Jan – 27 March 2017), supported by Mercedes Zobel in partnership with Outset.

Free to attend, no booking required. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
