Damien Hirst – Newport Street Gallery
Newport Street Gallery presents exhibitions of work from Damien Hirst’s art collection.
The first exhibition runs from 8th October 2015 to 3rd April 2016 and features the work of one of Britain’s leading abstract artists – John Hoyland.
Exhibitions vary between solo and group shows and admission to the gallery is free. Newport Street Gallery is the realisation of Hirst’s long-term ambition to share his art collection with the public.
The gallery spans 37,000 square feet and includes six exhibition spaces, split over two levels and is free to enter, making modern art available to all. The Murderme collection, which Hirst has been acquiring since the late 1980s, contains over 3,000 works.
Featured artists include Francis Bacon, Banksy, Tracey Emin, Richard Hamilton, Jeff Koons, Sarah Lucas, Pablo Picasso, Richard Prince, Haim Steinbach and Gavin Turk, as well as a number of young and emerging artists and a significant collection of indigenous artists from the Pacific Northwest Coast. The collection has previously been the subject of large-scale exhibitions at the Serpentine Gallery, London (2006) and the Pinacoteca Agnelli, Turin (2013).
The construction of Newport Street Gallery involved the conversion of three listed Victorian buildings, which were purpose-built in 1913 to serve as scenery painting studios for the booming local and West End theatre industries. With the addition of two new buildings, the gallery now spans half the length of the street.

Gasworks
Established in 1994, Gasworks is a non-profit contemporary visual art organisation that provides studios for London-based artists; commission emerging UK-based and international artists to present their first major exhibitions in the UK; and develop a highly-respected international residencies programme, which offers rare opportunities for international artists to research and develop new work in London.
All programmes are accompanied by events and participatory workshops that engage audiences directly with artists and their work.
Over the last two decades Gasworks has worked with over 250 artists from 70 countries around the world. Many alumni have gone on to exhibit at major institutions and art events, and have received nominations for – or won – prestigious awards including the Turner Prize, Absolut Award and Pinchuk Art Prize.

Beaconsfield
Set up in the former Lambeth Ragged School by artists with a track record for organising grass-roots events, Beaconsfield commissions, and is commissioned, nationally and internationally and has a long history of innovative collaboration with other organisations and individuals, on and off-site.
Beaconsfield’s holistic vision is to provide a critical space for creative enquiry. Founded to occupy a niche between the institution, the commercial and the ‘alternative’ the charity maintains a unique venue which has provided a laboratory and presentation space for contemporary art and artists since 1995.
The annual programme typically includes a range of exhibitions, residencies, talks and events as well as interventions in public space.

The commercial Cabinet gallery, which represents Ed Atkins and the Turner Prize winner Mark Leckey, is due to move into a new permanent home on Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens early next year reports The Arts Newspaper.
The purpose-built, five-storey building, located on the is backed by the London-based arts patron Charles Asprey.
Cabinet, which was founded in Brixton in 1991, is currently based in Old Street in east london.
The gallery, a fixture on the contemporary art scene, has worked with high-profile names such as Martin Creed and Tris Vonna-Michell.
