Classical Vauxhall presents: Elephants in the Custard

Classical Vauxhall and the London Philharmonic Orchestra have teamed up to present Elephants in the Custard, an interactive musical story film for children aged 5–7.

The 24-minute film is based on the children’s book of the same name, published by Owlet Press, which explores how it feels to have a worry, and the importance of making time to talk to each other.

Children are invited to join in with the actions, catchphrase and song, complete with live brass music from LPO musicians and dancing elephants!

As part of Classical Vauxhall, the video was available exclusively to Lambeth schools before its official release. The public premiere and watch party will take place on YouTube at 2.00pm on Thursday 29 April.

Talia Lash, Education & Community Manager from the LPO said:

“We are delighted to be part of the Classical Vauxhall festival again this year with our children’s film, Elephants in the Custard. The challenges of the past year have made it more important than ever for children to be supported to talk about their feelings, and we believe that music has the unique power not just to tap into emotions directly, but also to engage, entertain and delight.”

You can watch the full Elephants in the Custard film for free from 29 April on lpo.org.uk/elephants

Accompanying written and video resources for teachers are also available on the LPO website.
