Kennington improvements

News May 25, 2018 - admin2020 Kennington improvements
From Saturday 26 May until mid-September, the Northern and Victoria lines and some stations are likely to be busier.

Bank branch Northern line trains will not stop at Kennington while we carry out essential work to make it quicker and easier to change between branches, ready for the Northern Line Extension.

Kennington station will remain open for the Charing Cross branch but there will be no interchange between the branches. To allow more frequent, direct trains to run (approximately every 10 minutes) between Morden and the Charing Cross branch, there will also be a slightly reduced service on the Bank branch.

The Northern and Victoria lines and some stations are likely to be busier so if you can, please avoid the busiest times, allow extra time for your journey or use alternative routes including Tube, rail, bus, cycling or walking options

Alternatively, for Kennington:

  • From Angel or King’s Cross St Pancras – use the Charing Cross branch via Euston
  • From Bank, Borough or London Bridge, use local buses

From the Bank branch

During the work, there will be a slightly reduced service on the Bank branch and stations are likely to be busier.

Trains will run approximately every 2-3 minutes during peak times and approximately every 3-4 minutes during off-peak times. Check for train times by planning your journey. Stations are likely to be busier, especially during the evening peak.

For stations south of Kennington:

  • From Euston, Warren Street and nearby Goodge Street – take the first train and wait on the platform at Kennington for a Morden train. Aternatively, use the Victoria line from Euston or Warren Street and change at Stockwell
