Overnight survey works planned around Vauxhall from 9 March 2017

TfL plan to start surveying work in the Vauxhall area from 9 March.

This work, which is due to continue until late March, will build on findings from similar surveys last summer and will help ensure that records of underground pipes and cables are up-to-date.

The surveys will involve some digging and drilling of trial holes. Although there will be some noise, TfL will do their utmost to minimise it and will use noise-reducing barriers.

Roads around Vauxhall will be open during the works, although some temporary lane closures will be needed overnight. You will find more detail below.

Temporary overnight lane closures planned from 9 March

The surveys are planned on Monday to Friday nights, between 21:00 and 05:00 the following morning. Noisier works are due to be completed by midnight.

Temporary overnight lane closures will be needed on the following roads: Albert Embankment, Bondway, Harleyford Road, Kennington Lane, Langley Lane, Nine Elms Lane, Parry Street, South Lambeth Road, South Lambeth Place, Vauxhall Bridge and Wandsworth Road.

The surveys, and associated lane closures, will be completed in phases to minimise disruption. Different roads will be affected on different nights as a result, but the area may be busier than normal so please allow more time for journeys, where possible.

Bus passengers

Some works are planned around the bus station overnight from Mondays to Wednesdays, though the bus station will remain open throughout and access will be maintained at all times.

Bus stop A within the bus station is due to be temporarily suspended from 21:00 on 13 March until 05:00 on 14 March. During these times, please use stop E for routes 2, 36, 185, N2 and N136.

The latest bus service information is available from tfl.gov.uk/bus/status or @TfLBusAlerts on Twitter.

Cycle Superhighway 5 northbound is due to be temporarily closed overnight on 14 March, between South Lambeth Road and Albert Embankment. An alternative cycle route will be clearly signed.

Parking and loading bays

Parking and loading bays will remain open during the works.

Pedestrians

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times, although there will be some works on footways in the area. Temporary pedestrian diversion routes will be clearly signed.

Working hours

The working hours outlined above have been agreed with the London Borough of Lambeth.
