Solar power for Vauxhall

News June 9, 2015 - admin2020 Solar power for Vauxhall
Brixton-based social enterprise Repowering London are working with Vauxhall Gardens residents to put solar panels on the roofs of the estate to create clean, green energy and many other benefits for the community.

After the success of three Brixton community energy schemes, Repowering London has now been set up to support community groups across London to establish co-operatives that enable them to generate their own power. The solar installation is financed by a community share offer and the electricity generated provides an income to the community.

Some of this income pays a small return to local investors with the remainder going to a community fund to help local residents save money on their energy bills and to train young people and the unemployed in new green skills such as solar energy generation.

Repowering are keen to hear from local residents who would like to get involved with the project, either through supporting events and workshops, attending meetings, promoting the scheme to the community or investing when the share offer is launched later this year.

If you would like to find out more about the Vauxhall Energy scheme come along to one of our meetings on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month at the Carmelita Centre at 6pm or get in touch via email or telephone.
