Lambeth to deliver a Night Time Enterprise Zone for Vauxhall

In November 2022, the Mayor of London awarded the London Borough of Lambeth funding to create a new Night Time Enterprise Zone (NTEZ) in Vauxhall.

Lambeth will receive £130,000 to deliver a programme that supports local businesses by making Vauxhall safer and more welcoming after 6pm, and encouraging greater use of the area at night.

Night Time Enterprise Zones aim to:

  • Extend opening hours and boost activity after 6pm, driving footfall and income for local businesses
  • Give local people and visitors improved access to shops and services after 6pm
  • Make the streets more welcoming and inclusive for a diverse range of people after 6pm

Council plans include activating Vauxhall’s unique spaces (such as the tunnels and railway arches), and celebrating the area’s LGBTQI+ history. They will also identify sites that could be used to support culture, entertainment, leisure, education, training and wellbeing after dark.

Vauxhall One is working closely with Lambeth’s Business, Culture & Investment team to ensure that the NTEZ meets the needs of businesses in the area.

Vauxhall One’s Chief Executive, Bernard Collier, said, “We’re excited about the Vauxhall Night Time Enterprise Zone. This has always been a place of entertainment and fun, and we want to make the area a key destination for people to enjoy after dark. Vauxhall is unique and it’s important that we celebrate that – which is why we’re working closely with Lambeth Council to make sure that the NTEZ is delivered in a way that supports local businesses, their staff and their customers.”

If you’re a business owner in Vauxhall, we want to hear from you! Tell us your views on the NTEZ and how it could support your business by completing this survey.

Your feedback will help the team at Lambeth Council to:

  • Inform the vision for the NTEZ in Vauxhall
  • Prioritise project delivery
  • Identify supporting opportunities for initiatives such as the Women’s Night Safety Charter

The survey closes on Friday 19th May 2023.
