As Vauxhall continues to evolve at pace, 2026 will be a pivotal year for the area’s business community. It marks the year in which Vauxhall One’s current Business Improvement District (BID) term comes to an end, and when eligible businesses will be asked to vote in a renewal ballot, taking place in November 2026.
Over the past 14 years, we’ve worked alongside our members, partners and stakeholders to deliver practical improvements that make a real difference to day-to-day trading conditions. Since 2012, Vauxhall One has continued to invest BID levy funds directly back into the area, focusing on what local businesses consistently tell us matters most: cleaner streets, a safer environment, greener public spaces and a stronger sense of place.
That has meant enhanced street cleansing and maintenance over and above council provision; intelligence-led safety initiatives and on-the-ground security presence; and ongoing greening projects that improve air quality and make Vauxhall a more welcoming place to spend time. Alongside this, our programme of free community events, including Vauxhall Summer Screens in Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, has helped animate the area, support local hospitality businesses and bring workers, residents and visitors together.
These improvements don’t happen by accident. They are the result of long-term planning, partnership working and sustained investment through the BID model, shaped by business feedback and governed by a board drawn from the local business community.
Looking ahead, recent stakeholder research has reinforced both the opportunity and the responsibility facing Vauxhall over the next five years. Businesses want an area that feels safe and well managed, but also one that continues to adapt: responding to changing work patterns, supporting footfall at different times of day, improving the public realm, and ensuring Vauxhall’s growth benefits the people and organisations based here.
The 2026 renewal ballot will be the moment when levy-paying businesses decide whether this collective approach should continue for a further five-year term. Renewal is not automatic. Continued investment, influence and delivery depend on businesses engaging with the process and taking part in the vote.
Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing more about what has been delivered, what’s been learned, and what comes next. In the meantime, we encourage members to explore our Projects to see how BID investment has been working on your behalf, and to stay in touch as we look ahead to this important milestone year for Vauxhall.
