Vauxhall One is the Business Improvement District (BID) for Vauxhall. Established in 2012, we are a business‑led, business‑funded organisation that works on behalf of levy‑paying businesses in the area.

Every five years, eligible businesses vote in a formal ballot on whether the BID should continue. That democratic structure is central to how we operate. It ensures that our work is shaped by local priorities and remains accountable to those who fund it.

We are not a political organisation. We do not set public policy. We focus on practical delivery and coordination that supports businesses and the wider local environment.

vauxhall is becoming a place where businesses want to base themselves, that they are eager to bring clients to, and where their employees are keen to work.

Aseem Sheikh

Chairperson

Vauxhall is a high‑footfall, high‑growth area with:

– Major transport interchanges
– Ongoing development
– A diverse mix of businesses
– Residential growth
– A strong cultural and night‑time economy

In environments like this, day‑to‑day place management becomes essential. Local authorities provide core statutory services. However, public resources are stretched, and large areas require consistent, local attention that goes beyond baseline provision.

Vauxhall One exists to provide that additional focus. We concentrate on the practical issues that shape how the area feels and functions: cleanliness, public realm management, visible reassurance, greening, activity and coordination.

Our role is to add value locally and maintain momentum in a fast‑changing environment.

FUTURE PLANS

As the construction of numerous developments in the area reaches completion, Vauxhall One will focus on an inward investment strategy that attracts commercial tenants looking for centrally-located, premium office and co-working space.

An overarching advertising and PR campaign will position Vauxhall as an important destination for business, with superb transport links, attractive green spaces and a vibrant cultural scene

Further plans include:

  • Lobbying for the removal of the gyratory and its replacement with a pedestrianised green space
  • Attracting new food and beverage and independent retailers to the area
  • Partnering with Lambeth Council to deliver the Low Line vision for Goding Street
  • Improving Vauxhall’s outdoor space, with greater provision for al fresco dining
  • Enhancing Vauxhall’s cultural and heritage offer
