Lambeth employers are invited to take part in a two-part initiative to connect with and recruit talented young people aged 16–30. This event is delivered in partnership with The Skills Spot and Unity Works, with support from Department for Work and Pensions. Both parts will likely take place late June / early July, dates to be confirmed.
This is an opportunity for employers to meet enthusiastic candidates, explore fresh perspectives, and tap into a motivated talent pool. Many of the young people attending bring unique strengths, creativity, and problem-solving skills that can enrich and diversify the workplace.
Part 1: Preparing to Engage
Online workshop for employers, delivered by Unity Works and DWP
This virtual session is designed to help employers confidently engage with young people throughout the recruitment process.
In this workshop, you’ll:
– Gain insight into a range of learning disabilities and neurodivergent profiles
– Learn practical strategies for inclusive interview processes
– Explore the benefits of building neurodiverse teams
– Ask questions and reflect on your current practice in a supportive, non-judgemental space
This session is open to hiring managers, line managers, HR staff, and anyone involved in recruitment. Attendance is strongly encouraged for any employer planning to exhibit at the careers fair.
Part 2: Careers Fair and Networking
In-person event for employers and young people, hosted at The Skills Spot
This will be a friendly and supportive event where employers can connect directly with young people who are keen to explore live job opportunities, showcase their strengths, and ask informed questions about the workplace.
We’re looking for employers who can:
– Exhibit current or upcoming vacancies
– Speak to young people about different roles, routes, and workplace cultures
– Commit to seeing these young people as potential hires
This is a valuable opportunity for employers to access underutilised talent while building more inclusive hiring practices.
