A number of high-profile events are due to take place across London this weekend, which may affect journeys, deliveries and vehicle access in and around central London.
On Saturday 16 May, two separate marches are planned in central London, alongside the FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium. While no marches or formal gatherings are currently scheduled to take place in Vauxhall, the scale of activity across the city means there may be some knock-on impact locally, particularly around transport interchanges as people travel to and from events.
The Metropolitan Police has issued a map showing planned road closures for the day, and guidance for businesses ahead of the weekend, which are available to download below. Please note that Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge are expected to close for parts of the day, which may affect bus routes, vehicle access and deliveries across the wider area. Timings remain subject to change for operational reasons, and roads will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.
We understand that this kind of activity can feel concerning for some business owners and staff. We have been assured that robust policing plans are in place across central London, and we will continue to monitor updates from the Metropolitan Police and other authorities. At this stage, our advice is to plan ahead for a busy and potentially changeable day, particularly if your business relies on deliveries, staff travel, visitor access or weekend trading.
In addition, the charity fundraising event MoonWalk London will take place overnight from 16 May into the early hours of 17 May. The event begins at Clapham Common from around 8:00–9:00pm and follows a 26-mile route through central London, including sections via Lambeth Bridge. This event is not expected to cause disruption locally, and the Metropolitan Police are working with organisers to support a safe and well-managed event.
Please be aware that event routes, timings and operational plans may change on the day. The Metropolitan Police and other authorities may also introduce conditions or restrictions where required. We encourage businesses to register for Met Engage– the Metropolitan Police’s online messaging platform – to receive the latest updates, alerts and local policing information directly.
