In November 2022, the Mayor of London awarded the London Borough of Lambeth funding to create a new Night Time Enterprise Zone (NTEZ) in Vauxhall.
Lambeth received £130,000 to deliver a programme to support local businesses by making Vauxhall safer and more welcoming after 6pm, and encouraging greater use of the area at night. Vauxhall One worked closely with Lambeth’s Business, Culture & Investment team throughout the year-long programme to ensure that the NTEZ met the needs of businesses in the area.
The final GLA report into the impact of the NTEZ is now available to read here: Night Time Enterprise Zones Evaluation.
Highlights from Vauxhall include:
- Over 15,000 people attended 24 NTEZ events in Vauxhall
- There was a 17% increase in evening footfall in the area
- 19 businesses were accredited with safety programmes and there were 12 new sign-ups to the Women’s Night Safety Charter
Following on from this, Lambeth will engage with BIDs, businesses, night workers and community organisations to deliver a Night Time Strategy for the whole borough, incorporating the learnings from the NTEZ.
This strategy will focus on making Lambeth welcoming, equitable, safe and accessible at night, and supporting the night time economy.
