Next time you cut through the tunnel under Vauxhall Station, look up — it’s had a makeover.

Over seven weeks during summer 2025, we stripped back old flaking paint, repaired the masonry and gave the ceiling a fresh coat of magnolia. It’s part of our ongoing work to keep the busiest parts of Vauxhall – especially around the transport hub – clean, safe and welcoming.

Daytime works weren’t an option with thousands of people passing through, so our team carried out the job overnight to avoid disruption . The result? A tunnel that feels lighter, brighter, and better for the millions who walk through each year.

This is one of the bigger projects we run in partnership with local stakeholders like Network Rail, South Western Railway and TfL, alongside our daily graft: six days a week, tackling litter, graffiti, fly posters and the build-up of city grime. It’s all part of keeping Vauxhall looking its best for everyone who lives here, works here, or is just passing through.
