Vauxhall is well known for its transport hub. Every year, over 26 million passengers pass through the bus, London Underground and Network Rail stations. For those exiting at Vauxhall, in the middle of the traffic gyratory, it can be daunting to navigate further out and explore the local area.
Many commuters will move straight through between overground or underground station without discovering the real Vauxhall – the green spaces, pubs, restaurants and hidden gems located away from the noise of the busy roads.
As part of our efforts to help people explore further afield, Vauxhall One has installed wayfinding signage at various points throughout the transport hub, including the Underground station concourse, pedestrian tunnel, and Kennington Lane footbridge.
The signage highlights local landmarks, green spaces and BID levy paying businesses within a short walk of the transport hub. Major locations such as the KIA Oval and the US Embassy are signposted alongside local eateries, art galleries, entertainment venues and fitness hotspots – showcasing Vauxhall’s unique offer and diverse mix of businesses.
In the summer, we installed a new LED sign above the kiosk outside the Underground station. This sign will show ‘about place’ content to broaden awareness of Vauxhall as a destination, as well as giving important safety information to passers-by and highlighting Vauxhall One’s annual programme of events.
