A new canine patrol unit is now operating in Vauxhall, helping to support a safer and more welcoming environment during late-night hours.
Delivered in partnership with Saber Security and the Safer Business Network, and funded by Vauxhall One, the initiative adds an additional layer of visible reassurance at key times — particularly as venues close and people make their way home.
A visible presence when it matters most
The patrol operates during the early hours of weekend mornings, when footfall is at its highest following the closure of local venues.
The team — made up of two trained dogs, two handlers and a security officer — will move through central Vauxhall, with a focus on areas where people gather or pass through after a night out, including Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens and surrounding routes.
Their presence is designed to be highly visible, helping to deter anti-social behaviour and provide reassurance to those in the area.
Working in partnership
This initiative reflects a coordinated approach to safety in Vauxhall. Vauxhall One works closely with partners including the Safer Business Network, security providers and local stakeholders to deliver practical measures that support businesses, staff and visitors.
As part of this work, the canine patrol will also support activity around the Biodiversity Garden, working alongside local partners to help ensure the space remains safe and welcoming during weekend use.
Focused on prevention and reassurance
The role of the patrol is primarily preventative. By maintaining a visible presence and engaging where needed, the team helps reduce the likelihood of incidents occurring — supporting a safer environment without the need for escalation.
This approach reflects Vauxhall One’s wider focus on practical, on-the-ground activity that responds to the needs of businesses and those who spend time in the area.
