This Refugee Week, head to the Pan Centre in Camelford House, 89 Albert Embankment, for ‘On the Fringe’.
From 15 to 20 June, this week-long programme of free events presents fine art, film, poetry, writing, singing, and performing, showcasing and celebrating the range of styles and stories which come under this single label – refugee.
Expect audience co-creation, lively discussion and presentations of extraordinary refugee emerging work.

Exhibition ‘Through Our Eyes’
Open throughout the week (17, 18 and 20 June, 12pm – 4pm)
Pan’s debut exhibition “Through Our Eyes” presents selections of work from seven refugee artists alongside art work generated in our workshops. Featuring art from Bruno Batista, Anna Virabyan, Amir Gafori, Emiliia Gordiienko, Maeda Khan, Ethar Amareen, and Josue Gomez Moncada.

From TogetherInTheUK’s second writing competition ‘Then & Now’, four writers will share essays and poems that tell stories of the courage it takes to leave your country and create a life somewhere new.

Conversations with, and without Benjamin Zephaniah
Friday 19 June from 6.30pm
Students from ESOL Colleges will present and share work they have created over several weeks in response to the work of Benjamin Zephaniah, followed by discussions with these students and Qian Zephaniah. We will then reflect, as an audience, creating our own Manifesto of what we can all do to make their, and our lives, better.
Refugee Filmmaker’s Spotlight – Screening Night
Saturday 20 June from 6pm
A compelling programme of short films by refugee artists and Pan participants. These films offer perspectives on displacement. Balanced with moments of humour, connection, and everyday life, the collection paints a rich and nuanced portrait of life between cultures.
