During the summer of 2024, Vauxhall One extended its network of CCTV cameras in central Vauxhall. Since 2013, the BID has, in partnership with Lambeth Council and TfL, installed CCTV cameras in key locations along Albert Embankment, Kennington Lane and Vauxhall Street. Four new cameras will take the total in operation to 13.
The cameras are positioned at key locations around the transport hub and main thoroughfares to enhance safety and security for businesses, locals and employees. The cameras provide vital intelligence to local agencies, including the British Transport Police, Safer Business Network, Vauxhall Security Team and Metropolitan Police.
These agencies are able to view footage on mobile devices over a 4G network, allowing them to remain agile when investigating crime in Vauxhall. This close, collaborative working relationship is helping to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour in the area.
