Changes have been made to how the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme operates in the UK.
From 2025, businesses which use, handle, import or generate packaging for their goods and services are likely to be affected by this new legislation.
The new Extended Producer Responsibility legislation aims to create a more circular economy by increasing recycling and use of single materials. The aim is to minimise the environmental impact of waste.
You will need to collect and report packaging data if all of the below apply:
– You’re an individual business, subsidiary or group (but not a charity).
– You have an annual turnover of £1million or more (based on most recent annual accounts).
– You were responsible for more than 25 tonnes of packaging in 2022.
– You carry out packaging activities (as defined by gov.uk)
You can find the full details and further guidance on the gov.uk website.
