In 2011 EmploySE1 started as a modest recruitment support project funded by Business Improvement Districts in Lambeth and Southwark (Vauxhall One, Better Bankside, Team London Bridge and WeAreWaterloo).

EmploySE1 was started in order to help promote and advertise local jobs to residents through an employment support network.

Four years since its launch in Southwark the project now has two members of staff, also covers Lambeth and is now advertising just over 100 vacancies a month.

To date the project has registered over 300 local employers advertising over 2000 jobs.

“It’s been record breaking, businesses are growing and keen to recruit locally. We’ve seen the fastest growth in vacancies since we started in 2011. ” Says Martin Mannion, EmploySE1 Business Development Manager.

“Businesses in SE1 & SE11 have more confidence to employ local residents, they understand the benefits and believe that their jobs can make a difference in the local economy.”

The largest increase in vacancies have been in hospitality, however the range of jobs is wide. Any business of any size can register online and advertise a job.

These jobs are then distributed to wide network of employment support companies and their candidates then apply for any suitable vacancies.

The employer can select and interview the best candidate for their job.

It’s free and any business in SE1 and SE11 can use the service. If you would like to take advantage of EmploySE1 contact the team info@employ-se1.co.uk or register your vacancy www.employ-se1.co.uk

Eastbound closure of Harleyford Road/Kennington Oval – 3 August 2015

TfL are currently constructing Cycle Superhighway 5 from Oval to Pimlico.

The next stage of these works involves building out the footway on the southern side of the A202 Harleyford Road to create a two-way segregated cycle track.

From 3 August 2015, an eastbound road closure will be in place along the A202 Harleyford Road/Kennington Oval between Durham Street and the A3 Kennington Park Road for approximately two weeks.

The closure will occur in one direction heading eastbound from Vauxhall gyratory toward Oval Tube Station.

During this time the following restrictions will apply:

  • No left turn from Durham Street into the A202 Harleyford Road. The right turn from Durham Street (heading westbound) will be maintained throughout the works
  •  Vehicle access from the A202 Camberwell New Road into the A202 Harleyford Road (heading westbound) will be maintained

A clearly signed traffic diversion will be in place throughout the closure. Traffic approaching the A202 Harleyford Road will be diverted down the A203 South Lambeth Road onto the A3 Clapham Road.

Bus impacts

  • Buses that normally travel down Durham Street and onto the A202 Harleyford Road will be diverted, this includes the 36, 36X, 185, 436, 436X and N136
  • The westbound bus stop outside the community garden on Harleyford Road will be reopened and in use for the duration of the closure
  • The eastbound bus stop currently situated outside St Mark’s Church of England Primary School will be removed during the works and permanently relocated to Durham Street

Access to residential properties

  • Parking and vehicular access to properties located on the southern side of the A202 Harleyford Road will be restricted. TfL will work with local residents to make sure they are aware of how their access will be affected
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times during the road closure

To complete the works as quickly as possible and reopen the road, works will take place between 08:00 and 18:00, seven days a week.

The works will generate some noise due to excavation using mechanical diggers and the cutting of paving slabs, but we are committed to minimising disruption and apologise in advance for the inconvenience.

We have scheduled the works during the school summer holidays when traffic flows in the area are expected to be lower.
