RVT Future Job Opportunity: Project Manager

This is a unique opportunity to be part of LGBTQ+ history.

With the Royal Vauxhall Tavern now an Asset of Community Value and a Grade II listed building (with sui generis status pending), RVT Future are almost ready to put in a bid to purchase the venue.

To give us the best possible chance of success we need to employ a dedicated, talented Project Manager to lead us through this crucial stage of our campaign.

The successful applicant will be supported by a diverse, skilled executive team which includes Amy Lamé, Alice Beverton-Palmer, James Cronin, Dicky Eton, Richard Heaton, Rob Holley, Thom Shaw and Ben Walters.

Immovate (the international property developers that own the Royal Vauxhall Tavern) are looking to sell the venue as soon as they can, so it’s crucial that we find the right person with the capacity to commit to this time-consuming but hugely rewarding project.

Please download the full job specification and our mission statement from this link.

For further information email hello@rvt.community but please be aware that we’re run entirely by time-pressed volunteers (this will be our first paid position) and that we cannot answer all correspondence.

We’d be hugely grateful if you could share this news far and wide, particularly with any LGBTQ+ networks that might specialise in property purchases and social enterprises.

Job Specification: http://www.rvt.community/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/JSPM18Sept2017.pdf Onwards and upwards!

Deadline: Monday 3rd October 2016 [though we’re looking to fill this position as soon as possible, so please do not delay in applying.]

Sainsbury’s Nine Elms launches Waste less, Save more mission

On Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September, Sainsbury’s Nine Elms will be holding a ‘Waste less, Save more’ event as part of the retailer’s drive to help customers reduce food waste.

Waste less, Save more is a £10 million initiative to help households reduce the level of food they’re throwing away and designated colleagues will be on hand to provide storage tips which will teach customers how to keep their food fresh for longer.

As part of their mission, colleagues from the Sainsbury’s Nine Elms store will be handing out free fridge thermometers so shoppers can ensure their food is being stored at an optimum temperature. By setting your fridge to between 0 – 5 degrees, fresh foods will keep for longer, helping customers cut down on food waste.

Andy Robins, Store Manager at Sainsbury’s Nine Elms, said: The typical UK household throws away, on average, £700 of food each year. Through our Waste less, Save more campaign, we hope that our customers will pick up some handy tips to help them reduce the amount of food that they throw away and save money.”

Waste less, Save more is a five year plan from Sainsbury’s, designed to help customers save money by tackling food waste in the home. In January this year, the scheme was trialled in the market town of Swadlincote, South Derbyshire. While the trial continues, key learnings from the town – like the introduction of fridge thermometers – are now being rolled out more across the UK.

Paul Crewe, Head of Sustainability at Sainsbury’s, said: “We’re really excited to be sharing Waste less, Save more with the nation. Food waste continues to be a top priority for our customers, both in terms of saving money and the environment, and so we hope our hints and tips will really helpful for people in the Wandsworth Road area.

“We’re currently testing a range of new initiatives in our trial town of Swadlincote, all to help customers cut waste, and so expect many more exciting developments in the future.”
